The Joint Genesis label at a glance

The label lists one capsule as the serving, with 30 servings in each bottle. These are the five active ingredients as printed.

IngredientAmount per capsule
Ginger powder (Zingiber officinale, root)200 mg
Boswellia extract (Boswellia serrata gum resin, standardized to 65% boswellic acid)100 mg
Hyaluronic acid matrix (60-80% hyaluronic acid, more than 5-15% polysaccharides, more than 5-20% collagen type II)80 mg
Pine bark extract (Pinus pinaster)150 mg
Black pepper fruit extract (Piper nigrum, standardized to 95% piperine)5 mg

The other ingredients are cellulose (the capsule), magnesium stearate and silica. Because every amount is on the label, you can compare Joint Genesis with any other joint formula line by line, which is rare in a market full of proprietary blends.

The five ingredients, one by one

Ginger powder, 200 mg. Ginger is the familiar kitchen root. The seller places it with boswellia as an ingredient that supports a healthy inflammatory response and joint comfort. The closest research is a 2015 meta-analysis of randomized placebo-controlled trials on the efficacy and safety of ginger in osteoarthritis patients (Bartels EM et al., 2015).

Boswellia extract, 100 mg. Boswellia comes from the gum resin of Boswellia serrata, and the label says the extract is standardized to 65% boswellic acid. The seller gives it the same role as ginger. The closest research is a 2020 systematic review and meta-analysis on Boswellia and Boswellia extract for osteoarthritis patients (Yu G et al., BMC Complement Med Ther).

Hyaluronic acid matrix, 80 mg. This is the ingredient the seller calls Mobilee, and it sits at the center of the formula. Hyaluronan helps give synovial fluid its thick, lubricating quality, and the seller says the matrix is there to replenish it. The seller also says an 80 mg dose has been shown to multiply hyaluronan levels in the joints by a factor of 10, citing 14 trials. That is the seller’s statement about the ingredient, and we pass it on as such. The closest paper we checked is a 2016 review on oral hyaluronan and knee pain (Oe M et al., Nutr J). The matrix comes from an animal source and includes collagen type II.

Pine bark extract, 150 mg. The label lists Pinus pinaster, and the seller describes it as French maritime pine bark and a powerful antioxidant that distributes into the synovial fluid. The closest research is a 2017 paper on how constituents and metabolites of maritime pine bark extract distribute into serum, blood cells and synovial fluid (Mülek M et al., Nutrients). The label does not name a brand for the extract, so we do not either.

Black pepper fruit extract, 5 mg. Standardized to 95% piperine, this is the ingredient the seller calls BioPerine. Its role is practical: according to the seller, it helps absorption, which is why such a small amount sits in the capsule. We did not list a separate paper for it, because the seller’s reference list does not give one that we cite here.

How the ingredients fit together

Read as a whole, the label tells a simple story. The hyaluronic acid matrix is the lead ingredient, there to replenish the hyaluronan in synovial fluid according to the seller. Ginger and boswellia are the supporting pair, described as helping a healthy inflammatory response and joint comfort. Pine bark is the antioxidant, and black pepper extract is the helper that, according to the seller, supports absorption. That is a clear division of roles, and it is easy to remember when you read the bottle.

It also helps to notice what the label does not contain. There is no proprietary blend hiding the amounts, and there are only three other ingredients: cellulose for the capsule, magnesium stearate and silica. The doses are modest and readable, which makes it easy to compare Joint Genesis with any other formula you are considering, and easy to show the label to your doctor or pharmacist.

Reading a supplement label with confidence

If you are new to reading labels, here is a quick method that works for Joint Genesis and for anything else. Start with the serving size. Check that each active ingredient has an amount next to it. Look at what the amount is measured in, here milligrams. Finally, read the other ingredients, which tell you what the capsule itself is made of. Joint Genesis passes all four checks in a few seconds, because the serving is one capsule, all five amounts are printed and the other ingredients are just cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica.

About the research

The four papers above come from the seller’s reference list, and we confirmed each one on PubMed. They are research on the ingredients. They are not trials of Joint Genesis, and they do not show what this particular capsule will do for you. Several of them study osteoarthritis patients, which is a different group from a person who simply wants to look after their joints with a daily habit. We include them so you can see the ingredients are not random, and so you can read the papers yourself. Full titles and links are in the sources at the bottom of this page.

Quality notes from the seller

  • Made following cGMP in an FDA-inspected facility in the USA, according to the seller.
  • Free from gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, egg, crustaceans, GMOs and BPA, according to the seller.
  • Two-year shelf life.
  • Formulated in the USA, per the seller’s site footer.

Things to check before you order

  • Animal source. The hyaluronic acid matrix comes from an animal source and includes collagen type II. If you avoid animal products, check with the seller.
  • Medication. If you take blood thinners or diabetes medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist first, because the formula includes ginger, boswellia and pine bark.
  • Pregnancy and nursing. The seller advises asking a doctor first, along with anyone taking medication or living with a medical condition.
  • Results vary. The seller says some customers notice changes within 3 to 4 weeks and most after three months of consistent daily use.
